The Avena Originals’ Story
In 1991, the President of Avena Originals, Mel Tarry, had just resigned from Vice-Presidency of a large retail electronics store due to physical and mental burn-out. Although he never was diagnosed with any disease, he was mentally and physically sick. Like most of us today – he still thought he was reasonably healthy.
It was not until Mel attended a health lecture, held by a special group in Edmonton, Alberta, with Guest Speaker David Elliott, Master Herbologist, that he realized how sick he really was. Mel attended several meetings of David Elliott’s (who had just returned to Canada from an extensive 10-year research project) with a group of medical doctors who had a special interest in Mr Elliott’s findings in the field of Electrical Medicine.
During these meetings, Mel started to understand that “we are electrical; everything we do, eat, think, feel, and drink affects us electrically.” He now had enough information to understand why he was physically and mentally burned-out. He had created a body that was electrically malfunctioning – a body that was not being ‘fed’ – a body that was not being ‘cleaned’. This lecture created a real thirst for knowledge within Mel – a thirst that gave him the drive to get involved in making David’s formulas available within North America. When meetings with others who were interested in financing David Elliott’s project did not meet the standards he had set, David Elliott decided to maintain the control and production of all the formulas, and offered distribution through a Company called “Avena Originals”, with a program of agencies owned and operated by Mel Tarry. These agencies would become the distribution and marketing arm for the products created by David Elliott. One of David Elliott’s top priorities was maintaining the highest quality of raw materials as possible to ensure that the electrical matrix of the formulas was maintained. After Mel explained this opportunity to his friend, Francis Reglin, who caught the same excitement. Mel and Francis began sharing the information they had learned with others—that “You can Reclaim Your Health by Cleaning and Feeding Your Body”. The news spread quickly and over the next year many individuals throughout North America heard about the results people were achieving through the use of these products. It was not long before Mel Tarry, Francis Reglin, and the other marketing agencies realized that joining as one identity would allow their efforts to be more concentrated and more effective in making these formulas available. With the willingness to make a difference, all parties agreed to join together as one entity and formed a company to make these products widely available to the world. To this end, Avena Originals Marketing Systems Ltd (currently Avena Originals) was incorporated September 3, 1993.
Over the next few years efforts were concentrated to make these products more known throughout Western Canada. But when you have products that work, it is hard to keep them a secret! Avena Originals Marketing Systems soon began shipping to every corner of the world. Interest from the United States was also growing rapidly. However, shipping products over the border became more and more difficult. The Management Team of Avena Originals decided to open a warehouse in Las Vegas, Nevada, and established a Corporation named Avena Originals Lifestyles Management, Inc. in the state of Nevada on November 17, 1993. Steve & Debbie Ewaniuk (ex-banking Financial Consultants) made an agreement with Avena Originals Marketing Systems Ltd to assist in the distribution of products within the US market. We have come to love, and really appreciate the efforts of Steve and Debbie and their family as our US market has seen exponential growth.
To guarantee the continued availability of Avena’s powerful products, Avena Originals invested the required financial resources to secure the rights to the product formulas; and has contracted manufacturing with reliable, credible GMP-certified manufacturers in both Canada and the United States.
With the education and subsequent understanding of all diseases starting in the bowels (bowel toxemia), and with the powerful body-cleansing formulas developed by David Elliott, we were in search for products that would also provide a solution to the cause of Bowel Toxemia.
It was not until Mel Tarry’s wife, Kathy was diagnosed with a severe case of Lupus that we were guided to the answer. Now, life really had our attention. And as a result Mel and Kathy became passionate about helping others towards reclaiming their health success.
The Management of Avena Originals asked Michael O’Brien if his Company would allow Avena Originals to make these same powerful products – the Enzymes and Probiotic formulas – available to its members. He agreed, and today his N-Zymes and Friendly Flora formulas (the same formulas that were previously only offered to medical doctors with whom he was working very closely) and used by Kathy, were now available through Avena Originals. Through this relationship, Avena Originals has been able to offer additional formulas developed by Michael O’Brien – such as one of the most powerful highly anti-oxidant amino-acid Protein Complexes available today. This Tocotrienol Complex (Toco) is totally derived from whole-food sources – and also the extremely powerful green-food product called “Super Food.” With these additions of Michael O’Brien’s formulas, Avena Originals can now offer with confidence its ‘Seven Steps to Reclaim Your Health’ program.
