Blood Pressure - What Does It Mean
Blood Pressure - What Does It Mean?
Your blood pressure can be a good indicator of your overall blood and heart health. Taking your blood pressure is simple and non-invasive. The top number refers to your systolic pressure; the bottom, diastolic. This can show you how high (systolic) and how low (diastolic) your blood pressure fluctuates. Ideally your blood pressure in a relaxed state should be close to 120/80. There are many good foods that you can incorporate into your diet and lifestyle that will positively affect your blood pressure. It is important to keep a healthy diet full of clean foods. Simple changes you can make include changing the fats and oils to healthier options; for example, using coconut oil instead of canola oil. Another food choice to watch is your salt intake. Your sodium levels balance a lot in your body. Salt that contains sodium can work in two ways with your blood pressure but you need to have it in the right quantities, much like any other nutrient. However, with salt this is more evident. Too much can lead to blood pressure problems, and not enough can lead to nutrient deficiencies. Therefore, it is important to watch how much sodium you are getting from your diet. However, do not eliminate it. Just make sure that you are getting it from good sources.

There are many herbs that have been shown to have an effect on blood pressure. One in particular is licorice. This herb is included in our Herb Cocktail and H/C Plus products. Many of our members have expressed concern regarding this herb if they are taking blood pressure medications or are currently showing borderline levels for high blood pressure. What Avena suggests is that if you are at all worried, do not take the product. But, for those who are hoping to cleanse and detoxify their body, we suggest that you start slowly with small amounts to gauge how your body reacts to the product. You always know your body best. If you do try the product, monitor your responses closely to find out if the product is affecting you adversely or if there is no problem. If you feel comfortable with the product, you can increase the amount that you take (you should increase slowly). Start with 1 capsule or 1/4 tsp per serving and stay at that level for at least 48 to 72 hours. That way you can have a better idea if it is the Herb Cocktail or some other factor affecting you (you may need to determine what). If you remain uncomfortable with the idea of using Herb Cocktail to cleanse and detoxify your body, some other useful products to consider are Friendly Flora, Enzymes, Aloe Vera, or Para-Ease.
