Colon Cancer Survivor
I was not aware of any health problems until the day of my son Jeremy’s wedding. It was the parties with the overeating leading up to the wedding that exposed the difficulty in my colon. The next week I saw our family doctor who arranged tests to discover what my health problem was.
On Sept. /03 I went for a colonoscopy and the Dr. was unable to get the colonoscope past the tumor he encountered, while doing the procedure he took several biopsies. The next day I was informed that I had colon cancer and that the tumor was almost completely blocking my colon. The surgeon told me that they would need to operate immediately and following that treat me with radiation and chemo. I was told that it would be a major surgery because the tumor had likely spread it’s tentacles into my abdomen and to be successful they would have to remove all suspicious growth.
At that point I had to make a decision to either take the surgeon’s advice or chose to do what I had learned from studying alternatives to what the medical system recommends. I decided to take control of my situation and contrary to ‘professional’ advice decided to follow the Avena 7 step program which is to clean and feed my body in such a way so that it could heal itself. I also went on a completely raw and organic diet. I was fully aware that I was walking a fine line because my colon could very easily be completely blocked at any time.
I made good progress in the battle against the cancer. I am told that what happens in fighting the cancer with the method I chose is that the tentacles from the tumor withdraw back into the tumor which causes the tumor to expand in its last ditch effort to maintain itself (tumors take on a life of their own).
In its final stage the tumor expanded thereby completely blocking my colon. I required emergency surgery and am thankful for the expert trauma help that our medical system provided.The good news was that there was no cancer found except that which remained in the tumor and I had no radiation or chemo.
I wanted to wait a while before writing of my experience to ensure that the cancer was gone. It is now Sept. /05 and I am enjoying continuing good health. By choosing this option I made a conscious, deliberate choice to facilitate my body's built in capacity to heal itself.
